IGN: Will you be returning for the next Fast and the Furious movie?
Jordana Brewster: I think so, yeah.
IGN: There is talk that it will be a European setting. Have you heard anything about that?
Brewster: I have not. I think Justin [Lin]’s tweeting from different locations, so that’s how I get my news. Sometimes I’d hear casting news from, like, Yahoo News. So I know as much about it as you do.
IGN: Mia is a family woman now. Despite that, are you still hoping that you’ll get more action to do?
Brewster: Yeah, it’s been really fun. I loved all the stuff I did in Fast Five. I loved being on the road with Paul [Walker], Brian. I thought that was good for the evolution of the character. So hopefully her being a mother doesn’t limit her. It should just empower her even more.
IGN: Are you excited having Michelle [Rodriguez] back in for the sixth movie?
Brewster: Yeah. I think Michelle’s awesome, and I think the fans love her. I think it makes so much sense.
IGN: I would say Fast Five is the best and certainly best received part 5 of any movie series. Usually, by part 5 a series is running low on gas, no pun intended. But this one really delivered. Why do you think that was?
Brewster: Justin and Chris [Morgan], the writer, I think they’re just really, really smart not taking their fans for granted. I think [Dallas executive producers] Cynthia [Cidre] and Mike [Robin] did something really similar. You don’t take your fan base for granted. You know you have to switch it up. You know you have to reinvent it. Taking it to Brazil was really smart. I think bringing in — I always say “The Rock” — Dwayne [Johnson] was really smart. They wanted something fresh, and making it a heist movie was really smart, and just adding different elements. And yet bringing back Tyrese and bringing back Ludacris and bringing back me – bringing fresh elements and keeping some of the original elements. And we got lucky. The fans are great.
IGN: Anything specific — action or car-wise — you’d like to get your character involved in?
Brewster: You know what I find? I love being really active. There’s not a lot you can do in the car because that’s a lot of green screen stuff, and I’m not good at that. Paul’s really good at that, he’s really familiar with cars. But I feel more empowered with the running and jumping and all that stuff. That would be really fun.
IGN: You shot the first movie twelve years ago. I’m sure you couldn’t have guessed it would have this staying power.
Brewster: Never. You have no idea. I was on a summer break from college shooting the movie in LA. I had no idea what we were a part of. None.
IGN: What do you think has been the key to continuing the franchise?
Brewster: I think it’s this band of misfits that has a code, and they stick to their code no matter what. I think that’s appealing to a lot of people.
